Injury second most costly acute care stay for hospitals

Canadian hospitals spend more money caring for patients with injuries than for any other medical condition, with the exception of circulatory diseases. The new report from the Canadian Institute for Health Information is the first of its kind to examine what hospitals spend by acute care patient stay and by medical condition. The Cost of Acute Care Hospital Stays by Medical Condition in Canada: 2004-2005, focuses on the cost of treating patients admitted to hospital for at least one night.
