Teleconferences set up for CIHR grants
The Canadian Institutes for Health Research has set up a series of teleconference meetings, beginning Thursday, Feb. 28, for researchers planning to apply for the CIHR Strategic Teams in Applied Injury Research (STAIR), following the omnibus meeting held in December. These meetings will allow researchers, and other stakeholders with an interest in specific research priorities identified for the competition, to meet and discuss plans.
The hope is that teams may be able to recruit additional members, find community partners, and for those working in similar areas, to find either common ground for a joint application, or a clearer understanding of the distinctions between their individual proposals. The schedule of dates and times by research priority area, follows.
Each call will have either Margaret Herbert from the Public Health Agency of Canada, or Philip Groff of SMARTRISK, usually both, on the line to act as moderators, though the calls themselves will have open agendas, for researchers and stakeholders to shape the discussions as they see fit.
Once again, there is no need to participate, and those who do will have absolutely no advantage in the review of their application for these team grants, other than the opportunity to make some connections in advance. In other words, this teleconference is not the fast track to funding, just an opportunity to talk about this initiative as a field.

- Friday, March 7: Transportation, hosted by M. Herbert and P. Groff
- Monday, March 10: Workplace Injury, hosted by M. Herbert and P. Groff
