Competition Bureau checks helmet-maker Bauer over concussion claims

The Competition Bureau has ordered hockey equipment manufacturer Bauer to stop making unsupported claims that its Re-Akt hockey helmets offer enhanced protection from concussions.

The ruling also calls for Bauer to donate $500,000 worth of equipment to charity, and to pay $40,000 to defray the cost of the bureau’s investigation.
