Alcohol forum addresses injury prevention
Injury prevention, chronic disease and substance abuse professionals are invited to attend the 6th annual Alcohol: No Ordinary Commodity forum in Toronto on March 5, 2009. This year’s particular focus considers the links between alcohol and injury prevention, as well as alcohol and chronic disease.
The forum’s theme is Alcohol Across the Life Span: Current Research and Practical Applications for Alcohol-Related Harm with a Focus on Injury Prevention and Chronic Disease.
The forum will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the North York Memorial Community Hall, 5110 Yonge St., Concourse Level.
New this year, registration is $75 per participant. Each participant will receive:
- two snack breaks and a catered lunch
- a printed guide of past alcohol policy forums
- a participant package containing presentations and background documents
- discussions with renowned expert speakers.
Speakers and topics include:
- Dr. Louis Gliksman, Trends in Alcohol Consumption and High Risk Drinking in Ontario Dr. Phil Groff, Alcohol and Injuries: Research into Practical Application
- Dr. Robert Mann, Recent Developments on Drinking and Driving and Effective Responses
- Dr. Jürgen Rehm, International Evidence on Alcohol and Chronic Disease
- A Public Health panel addressing the topics above and answering questions from participants.
