Alcohol interlock website for practitioners launched
The Traffic Injury Research Foundation has launched the Alcohol Interlock Curriculum for Practitioners website. The curriculum contains two parts, one available to the public with general information about interlocks, the second targeted towards registered users who wish to deliver education and training about alcohol interlocks to various groups.
The website contains a variety of instructional materials to assist agencies and organizations in educating their staff and members about alcohol ignition interlocks. An interlock is a breath-testing device that connects to the starter or ignition or other on-board computer system of a vehicle, preventing it from starting if breath test results show a breath alcohol concentration above a certain pre-set limit.
The curriculum provides general information about alcohol interlocks to the public and allows registered instructors to tailor educational materials to meet their respective needs and deliver these materials at their convenience. It is designed to meet the educational needs of law enforcement, prosecutors, the judiciary, probation and parole officers, treatment and driver licensing professionals. Electronic access to the special instructor materials for the curriculum is available by registering to obtain a user name and password.
