Canadian injury prevention conference postponed
The Canadian Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion Conference, originally scheduled for November 2009 in Vancouver, has been postponed until the fall of 2011. The decision was made after much deliberation by conference partners Safe Communities Canada, Safe Kids Canada, SMARTRISK and ThinkFirst Canada.
“The decision was made for issues of good financial stewardship, and also that the decision gave the opportunity to build an even better conference for 2011,” the partners announced.
“Our plan is to use the extra time to build the best National Conference in Vancouver in 2011. To that end, we will channel all our energies to showcase a Conference that will make a difference for the injury prevention community and will Be Visible to Canada and the rest of the world.
“We have pulled together an energetic and committed Program Planning Team from all sectors across Canada, led by Ian Pike, the Director, B.C. Injury Research & Prevention Unit, and Matt Herman, Director, Injury Prevention and Healthy Built Environment, Ministry of Healthy Living & Sport in the B.C. government. The Committee has met and has made great progress in defining the theme and the structure for the Conference. We are grateful for their participation and confident that they will play a huge role in achieving our goals for 2011.
“We look forward to seeing you in Vancouver in 2011.”
