Dangers of Self Asphyxia - The Choking Game December 11, 2008
10:00 am-11:00 am EST
Faculty: Sharron Grant and Kristen Orser

This presentation will give participants an in depth review of the dangers and warning signs of the choking game. The Choking Game is a misunderstood activity causing death and suffering for thousands of families worldwide. It often begins with high-achieving teens choking each other as a way to get high without the risk of getting caught with drugs or alcohol. It ends with death or suffering permanent brain damage. 2007 OSDUHS: Mental Health & Well-Being Highlights Report (Grades 7 to 12): Overall, about 7% of students report that they had participated in the choking game at least once in their lifetime. This estimate represents about 79,000 Ontario students

Sharron and Kristen are both actively involved with the non-profit organization GASP. To learn more about them please visit www.gaspinfo.com or www.deadlygameschildrenplay.com
